In the “BioPlastik” cooperation network, partners from industry and academia work together under the management of IBB Netzwerk GmbH. The network was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for three years; since the beginning of 2017, the partners have been financing the network themselves. The BioPlastik network provides the perfect breeding ground for innovations: Experts from a wide range of fields such as films, packaging, environmental technology or adhesives cover the entire value chain from research and development to marketing. The network’s partners have set themselves the task of carrying out projects to develop innovative, bio-based, degradable and at the same time low-cost biopolymers. In this way, materials made from bioplastics are expected to gain significant market shares in mass-produced products.
