Volk­swa­gen­Stif­tung

The Volk­swa­gen Found­a­tion pro­motes sci­ence and tech­no­logy in research and teach­ing. It facil­it­ates research pro­jects in prom­ising fields and helps sci­entif­ic insti­tu­tions improve the struc­tur­al con­di­tions for their work. It pays par­tic­u­lar atten­tion to young sci­ent­ists and to cooper­a­tion between research­ers across dis­cip­lin­ary and nation­al boundaries.

The Volk­swa­gen Found­a­tion is realign­ing its fund­ing strategy from 2021 onwards, with three pro­file areas: ​‘Explor­a­tion’, ​‘Social Trans­form­a­tion’ and ​‘Know­ledge about Know­ledge – Reflec­tion and Prac­tice in the Sci­ences’, as well as the cross-cut­ting area ​‘Sci­ence in Society’.
