European Invest­ment Fund

The EIF sup­ports mainly SMEs, start-ups and infra­struc­ut­ral pro­jects in mul­tiple ways: 

• Facil­it­at­ing access to fin­an­cing: It offers guar­an­tees, equity invest­ments and loans to offer fin­an­cial sup­port to com­pan­ies that might oth­er­wise have dif­fi­culties receiv­ing clas­sic bank loans
• Ven­ture cap­it­al: By invest­ing in ven­ture-cap­it­al-funds and dir­ect invest­ments, it helps to sup­port innov­at­ive ideas and rap­idly grow­ing com­pan­ies, espe­cially in the areas of tech­no­logy, sus­tain­ab­il­ity, and digitalsation
• Mobil­isa­tion of private invest­ments: It acts as a cata­lyst by using pub­lic fund­ing in a way that addi­tion­al private invest­ments are facilitated
• Geo­graph­ic­al and sec­tor­al diversity: The fund­ing is dir­ec­ted to com­pan­ies from the whole EU and cov­ers a broad spectrum

The goal is to boost growthm innov­a­tion, and com­pet­it­ive­ness in Europe by remov­ing bar­ri­ers to fin­ance and facil­it­at­ing long-term investments.
