Network IBP
Duration: 2008 — 2013
Looking from a retro perspective, the cluster IBP was the first sub-network of IBB Netwerk GmbH. This sub-network was initially founded following the cluster competition “BioIndustrie 2021 – Development of new products and processes within industrial biotechnology” by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The company was one of the competition’s winners and was called “Cluster IBP – Industrial Processes with biogenic Building Blocks and Performance Proteins”. Prof. Haralabos Zorbas, who was project head of the BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH back then, initiated and coordinated the cluster IBP.
Based on the positive evaluation of the IBP strategy, the young cluster company received 5 mio. EUR for the submission of R&D projects. In 2010, the first network’s interim evaluation took place successfully and was conducted by BMBF together with external experts (and administrative support by PtJ). Following this evaluation, the cluster was asked to hand in further project proposals, coordinated by IBB Netzwerk GmbH (formerly BioM WB GmbH). In total, 13 R&D projects were approved within the “BioIndustrie 2021” initiative and received funding by BMBF and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. The total project volume amounted to 21.2 mio. EUR with a total funding proportion of 48 per cent.
