BIOMAC Enters a New Era – Your Gateway to Market-Ready Biobased Innovations

After four years of impactful collaboration, the European project BIOMAC – European Sustainable BIO-based nanoMAterials Community is concluding its EU-funded phase. With over €14 million in support from the Horizon 2020 programme and a strong network of 33 partners across Europe, BIOMAC has laid the foundation for a lasting ecosystem that empowers innovation in the circular bioeconomy.
Coordinated by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and with a pivotal role played by IBB Netzwerk GmbH as Work Package Leader, BIOMAC developed a unique Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) to accelerate the transition from lab-scale nanomaterials to market-ready products. Through 17 interconnected pilot lines and a comprehensive range of expert services, BIOMAC supported breakthroughs in packaging, agriculture, textiles, construction, and automotive.
A New Beginning – BIOMAC OITB is Open for Business
The conclusion of EU funding marks a new chapter: the BIOMAC is turning into an Open Innovation Test Bed, open to clients across the globe. As the official Single Entry Point (SEP), IBB Netzwerk GmbH proudly coordinates this transition – offering direct access to an unparalleled innovation ecosystem.
From Biomass to Biopolymers – Scaling Innovation Sustainably
BIOMAC delivers a complete value chain: from the use of biomass sources and the production of biobased nanoparticles and building blocks, to the development and upscaling of advanced biopolymers. Our OITB fills a critical market gap by enabling sustainable materials to be scaled efficiently and reliably – helping drive Europe’s transition toward a circular economy.
And we don’t just make polymers – BIOMAC also provides modelling, regulatory, sustainability, characterization, and standardisation support to ensure your innovation journey is smooth, safe, and market-ready.
