Silantes is specialized in the production and commercialization of biopolymers labeled with stable isotopes (SI: 2H, 13C, 15N) used for NMR structural studies and quantitative proteomics.
The company is a “spin-off” of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and has 14 employees. Silantes is the only European company producing SI-labeled biopolymers based on a new technology using chemolithoautotrophic microorganisms. A special niche product is “SILAC feed” (13C-lysine feed) for 13C-lysine specific labeling of mouse, C.elegans, Drosophila and zebrafish in vivo.
