Our lab has pion­eered the use of the AFM for the study of the mech­an­ic­al prop­er­ties of single molecules. We dis­covered new bind­ing mech­an­isms and unfold­ing paths in bio­molecules and elu­cid­ated the activ­a­tion mech­an­isms of force sensors in muscle. Recently we inven­ted the single molecule cut & paste tech­no­logy and explored its poten­tial for the one-by-one sur­face assembly in a syn­thet­ic bio­logy approach.
