Beschreibung
To support the transition from an economy based primarily on fossil raw materials to a sustainable, bio-based economy based on natural material cycles, the BMBF is offering interested partners a new funding opportunity to apply.
In order to realise the bioeconomy as a sustainable, bio-based economy, international initiatives with a wide range of ambitious activities and projects are required in addition to national and European initiatives. Since the bioeconomy must be considered globally, worldwide cooperation is required to realise the desired goals for establishing the bioeconomy. This is where the Bioeconomy International funding programme comes in. Its purpose is to strengthen international cooperation and establish sustainable, active partnerships in the field of research, development and innovation by funding research and development projects in close cooperation with relevant foreign partners on key bioeconomy issues. This may involve projects of variable geometry.
The international project outlines submitted for selected projects flank the BMBF’s national activities to promote the bioeconomy and make a complementary contribution to achieving the funding policy objectives of the National Bioeconomy Strategy.
Universities, non-university research institutions, state and federal institutions with research tasks and commercial enterprises, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are eligible to apply.
The grants are awarded by way of project funding as non-repayable subsidies. The duration of the projects to be funded is generally up to three years. The amount of the grant per project depends on the requirements of the project applied for within the framework of the available budget funds, but may not exceed EUR 500,000 per association.
The following project-related expenditures or costs are eligible for funding:
Personnel;
Investments necessary for the realisation of the project;
consumables;
business trips (only travel by the grant recipient);
Expenses for the registration of industrial property rights;
awarding of contracts.
