Intention: The Internet of Things is regarded as a substantial, future field of development for profound innovations. This development also holds true for IoT-innovations in the fields of biotechnology and medical engineering. A few examples are petri dishes that are equipped with integrated systems to monitor cultivation conditions, OR-instruments that contain tracking functions as well as wound dressings with sensors for infection detection. The range of the IoT-approach’s innovative applications is vast.
