inter­pack 2014 – Bioplastics enjoy still grow­ing interest

From all kinds of multi-lay­er film solu­tions in flex­ible pack­aging fea­tur­ing biobased PE films to enhance car­bon foot­prints or com­postable e.g. cel­lu­lose based films to offer addi­tion­al end- of-life options, ​“lay­er­ing” is a con­tinu­ing trend in pack­aging. A product estab­lished already in the rigid pack­aging mar­ket – the cof­fee cap­sule made of com­postable bioplastic – was show­cased in sev­er­al ver­sions by dif­fer­ent com­pan­ies. It rep­res­ents a great example of the suit­ab­il­ity of bioplastic for injec­tion mould­ing pro­cessing. On the busiest days of the inter­pack European Bioplastics offered a stage pro­gramme with 4 – 6 present­a­tions daily cov­er­ing top­ics such as ​“end-of-life”, ​“envir­on­ment­al claims for bioplastics” and, ​“product innov­a­tions”.
