IBB Netzwerk GmbH member of “Bio-based Industries Consortium” (BIC)

Ten organizations authorized Industrielle Biotechnologie Bayern Netzwerk GmbH (IBB Netzwerk GmbH) to represent them in the international non-profit Association “Bio-based Industries Consortium” (BIC). BIC is the private part of the public-private partnership BRIDGE. BRIDGE stands for “Biobased and Renewable Industries for Development and Growth in Europe” and will be established in January 2014 within the next framework program for research HORIZON2020 of the European Commission. It was initiated to realize the transition towards a post-petroleum society while decoupling economic growth from resource depletion and environmental impact. As a regular member of BIC with voting right, IBB Netzwerk GmbH will, in accordance with the represented organizations, support the ambitions of BRIDGE. These ambitions are to use and exploit the potential of Europe’s bio-based industries through research, innovation and demonstration along the whole value chain in order to build a more competitive, efficient and sustainable Europe by 2020. BIC has the objective to prepare, set-up and assist in the execution of BRIDGE. Until 2020, about 3.8 billion Euros shall be invested in new and sustainable ways to organize a new, bio-based economy. The organizations, which IBB Netzwerk GmbH represents in BIC, are: 2mag AG, ANiMOX GmbH, Bayerischer Müllerbund e. V., BioCampus Straubing GmbH, Cysal GmbH, Euroferm GmbH, FRITZMEIER Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG/inocre®, Global Bioenergies S.A., Polymaterials AG and provenion gmbh, all members of the IBB network and of the shareholder association. “We are grateful for the confidence of the organizations authorizing IBB Netzwerk GmbH to represent them in BIC. IBB Netzwerk GmbH will continue efforts to acquire even more organizations for representation in BIC”, Haralabos Zorbas, CEO of IBB Netzwerk GmbH, said. At the moment, BIC consists of nearly 50 European industry members, as well as associate members, like Research and Technology Organizations, universities and European trade associations.
