Europa­Bio’s Most Innov­at­ive European Biotech SME Award 2012

Europa­Bio invites nom­in­ees for Europe’s Most Innov­at­ive Biotech SME of the year 2012. The award offers the oppor­tun­ity to build the pub­lic pro­files of com­pan­ies lead­ing the way in devel­op­ing Europe’s strong sci­entif­ic poten­tial in the applic­a­tion of bio­tech­no­logy. With a prize fund of € 10,000 and two years free mem­ber­ship of Europa­Bio (worth over €5,000), the com­pet­i­tion is again expec­ted to attract an out­stand­ing array of applic­a­tions from across EU mem­ber states and rep­res­ent­ing all sec­tors of the Biotech industry. Cri­ter­ia for the Award The main cri­ter­ia for apply­ing are that the com­pany apply­ing must qual­i­fy as an SME under the stand­ard EU SME defin­i­tion and it should be based in one of the European mem­ber states. The innov­at­ive idea or products must solve and tackle some of society’s biggest envir­on­ment­al, tech­nic­al or social chal­lenges for the future. Applic­ants must also explain their busi­ness strategy for the upcom­ing 24 months, includ­ing how to over­come chal­lenges in rais­ing cap­it­al. The award will be presen­ted at a pub­lic event in the European Par­lia­ment in Brus­sels. This event will be a show­case for innov­at­ive Bio­tech­no­logy in Europe. It will be hos­ted by Dr Phil­ippe de Back­er, MEP and key note addresses will be giv­en by G. Steven Burrill, Founder and CEO of Burrill & Com­pany as well as Vice-Pres­id­ent Com­mis­sion­er Tajani. Expec­ted attendees include industry rep­res­ent­at­ives, EU media, ven­ture cap­it­al­ists, CEOs and high rank­ing EU policy makers.
