Bioplastics – driving a resource efficient Europe
27.10.2014
The 2014 European Bioplastics Conference has an exciting and informative programme to offer. More than 30 speakers will be covering aspects of the bioplastics market related to this year’s main theme, “Driving a resource efficient Europe”. Speakers including Helmut Maurer (European Commission, DG Environment), and Virginia Janssen (EUROPEN) will be providing insights into the legislative landscape for bioplastics in the European Union in a series of key speeches and a session focussing on the EU policy landscape. European Bioplastics will share its vision for the European bioplastics industry and present new data on the market development. “Which new renewable feedstock is relevant for our market?” is the one of the questions taken up in this year’s programme. The session covers perspectives from research institutions and companies on upcoming or currently in use 2nd and 3rd generation renewable feedstock. Another highlight is the panel discussion on biobased labelling. The panellists representing all the relevant bioplastic regions worldwide include Ron Buckhalt (US Department of Agriculture, BioPreferred Program), Dr. Oliver Ehlert (DINCERTCO), Isao Inomata (Japan Bioplastics Association) and Salvador Ortega (ANIPAC Mexico). The session will be led by Bruno de Wilde (OWS). The property of “being biobased” is further examined during a workshop with the title of “How to certify biobased content in bioplastics?” led by the secretary of the CEN Working Group 411, Harmen Willemse. With networking opportunities and social highlights, such as the large product exhibition, practical online partnering and the 9th Global Bioplastics Awards ceremony, this year’s European Bioplastics Conference is set to live up to previous successful events organised by European Bioplastics.
