Karlsruhe Institute of Technology — Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mechanics (MVM)
The Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mechanics combines three areas under one roof:
The Gas Particle Systems (GPS) area is dedicated to the fundamentals and processes of gas-borne particle systems. The focus is on processes for particle handling and separation as well as methods for the investigation and adjustment of structural and functional particle properties down to nanoscale.
The Process Machinery (VM) area is dedicated to process engineering machinery for integrated processes for purification, separation and structuring of ultrafine particles. Lectures on apparatus engineering, numerical flow simulation and basic operations of mechanical process engineering are offered.
The area of Applied Mechanics (AME) deals with the rheology of complex fluids. On the one hand, this is used for the development of modern processing and application methods, and on the other hand, the influence of microscopic structures and interactions on macroscopic flow behavior is investigated.
