Renewable Chemistry from Nordic Forests – How do we speed it up?

Welcome to this seminar that focuses on the transformation into more renewable and fossil-free materials within the chemical and manufacturing industries and how we can accelerate the development. Where do we stand today? What is required of the different industries, retailers and purchasers? And what do the politicians do to achieve the environmental goals? Sweden is aiming to be one of the world’s first fossil-free welfare nations. Renewable or ​“green” raw materials refer to biomass from a variety of sources i.e. plants and microorganisms that is used industrially. The use of renewable raw materials especially in the Nordic countries, with an abundance of forests, has received a lot of attention. The grocery retailers, for example, have agreed to only use fossil free or renewable plastics packaging in their stores by 2030. The German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce together with BASF invites you to this important afternoon, where you will receive insights into how the chemical industry already today contributes to the transformation to a low-carbon future by enabling numerous sustainable solutions for example by using renewable raw materials or new products at all stages of the value chain. During the seminar we would like to discuss with you how chemistry-driven innovations can enable customers from nearly every industry to meet the current and future needs of a sustainable society. New biomass balanced materials that reduce CO2 emissions will be shown by Klättermusen (clothes), SIG Combibloc (packaging) and BASF Coatings Refinish (coatings).
