Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, bioliq

The Karlsruher Institute of Technology’s (KITs) bioliq® process is being developed to produce synthetic fuels and basic chemical products from dry biomass. To save expensive transport routes, the KIT’s BtL concept combines the decentralized production of the energy-rich biosyncrude by fast pyrolysis with its central conversion to synthesis gas and subsequent refinement on an industrial scale to the desired end product. The entire process chain was set up at KIT in the form of a pilot plant and is operated jointly with partners from industry and academia.
