German – Brazilian Partnering Event on the Way to a BioInnovation Hub
15.10.2012
Germany and Brazil are both committed to promoting the future bioeconomy. Therefore both nations cooperate in core fields of science and technology aiming at the production and transformation of sustainable carbon sources, and they intend to further strengthen their cooperation. In line with this, a successful German-Brazilian conference on value creation for the bioeconomy took place in São Paulo in 2011, supported by the German Brazilian Agribusiness initiative and the German Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Participants strongly recommended to establish an innovation hub for bioeconomy and suggested to organize a partnering conference to support the idea and develop concrete projects. A German delegation with representatives of academia, research institutions, industry and funding organizations, led by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation met with their respective counterparts to initiate a new network of bioeconomy experts. As a first result, we are pleased to announce the German – Brazilian Partnering Event on the Way to a BioInnovation Hub November 26 – 27, 2012, São Paulo, Brazil Representatives from academia, small and medium enterprises (SME) and multi-national companies (MNC) are invited to discuss and identify projects for cooperation in the following fields: Biomass production: Breeding, Efficient farming methods incl. harvesting and logistics, Valorisation of processing residuals (bagasse, vinasse, ash etc.).
